QBSC's Spring Showcase Saturday May 26, 2012 will be held at Centennial Secondary School (160 Palmer Rd. Belleville).
Spring Showcase is always an exciting time for the students as they have the opportunity to work with both choreographers and teachers on a mixed program of various repertoire and new choreography. These popular performances showcase the professional students as the culmination of their year’s work comes to fruition.

Picture this...Celebrate Playat Zwick’s Park, Belleville.
Imagine hundreds of children and adults building with blocks, or creating art and sculptures with paint, clay, and mud. Now picture that happening on a sunny day in Zwick’s Park at an event hosted by ETFO in partnership with leading educators, community organizations, and cultural institutions, and you have a picture of Celebrate Play. It’s a scene that will unfold in Belleville this June 3, 2012 to promote the messages thateveryone can play, play is affordable, fun, active and accessible.
While ETFO has been a strong advocate of play-based learning for over a decade, learning through play and its connection to enhanced brain function is not well understood or valued by many educators and parents. That attitude needs to change, particularly because the Ontario government supports a play-based early learning curriculum.
ETFO’s commitment to play-based learning has prompted us to take the lead in hosting the first Celebrate Play in Belleville. We have received commitments to participate from many of Quinte’s outstanding child centres, educators, and cultural institutions.
On June 3rd people will enter the Park and will experience firsthand at the 15 play centres, Pavilion performances, and story corner, the essential role of play in children’s learning. On entry participants will receive a map of the play centres and events, and can then stay and play.
The Playbook will celebrate the importance of play, ETFO’s commitment to play-based learning, and provide information on the event features such as the story corner, performance space, play centre descriptions and more ways to play at home, sponsor, partner and contributor recognition (with organization description and logo where appropriate). The Playbook will help children, educators and parents, find ways to play through the day, at home and at school.

- 15 - 20 play centres- partners to-date include: Belleville Public Library, Family Space/Ontario Early Years Centre, Abigail’s Learning Centre Inc., Young Imaginations, Ontario Health and Physical Education Educators, Visual Artist Anne MacInnis, Trenton MFRC, YMCA, Loyalist College Early Childhood Education Program, Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board, Hastings and Prince Edward Counties Health Unit, Belleville Theatre Guild, Quinte Health Care Preschool Speech and Language, Glanmore National Historic Site, Quinte Ballet School, City of Belleville

Summer Dance Camp Registration Day Albert College July 01, 2012
Sunday, July 1 ~ “Registration Day” When to Arrive: All students registered from July 2 – 13 and from July 2 - 27 are to arrive at Albert College (160 Dundas Street West) in the Walter Baker Common Room between the hours of 1:00pm and 4:00pm. During this time, paper work will be finalized and residence/room assignments will be provided. Weekly dance schedules and name tags will also be handed out. Day students are encouraged to finalize registration at Albert College on this day. Otherwise, the student and parent/guardian must finalize registration through the QBSC administrative office prior to the start of the student’s first class. Students enrolled in the last two-weeks of the PIP or OP are asked to contact QBSC’s administrative office prior to June 15 to coordinate their day and time of arrival, whether a day or residential student. Tour of QBSC Facilities: Staff and members of the Board of Directors will be on hand to give tours of QBSC between 1:30pm–3:30pm for families who would like a tour of the facilities. Welcome Dinner for All Students: At 5:00pm on registration day there will be a “welcome” dinner for all students and residential staff at the Albert College dining hall. The rest of the evening will be free to allow the residential students time to settle in and get to know their roommates, houseparent(s) and counselors. Day students are invited to attend this dinner, which should last approximately 1 hour.

Summer Dance 2011 comes to a close.
On the last afternoon of Summer Dance 2012, all of the students will participate in a showing of classes and choreography that has been worked on throughout the previous four weeks. Family and friends of the students are invited to the performance, which is held at Centennial Secondary School, located adjacent to QBSC.
