The Quinte Ballet School of Canada holds annual auditions for those students seeking acceptance into the full-time Professional Training Programme. The International Audition Tour involves two steps:
Step One - Attend an Audition in the City Nearest You Auditions, in which students participate in a ballet class, are held in various Canadian cities. Auditioning students should have at least two years of training however, minimal training is required for children twelve years of age or younger. Where possible, parents are welcome to observe audition classes. Audition Fee: $40 CDN
Step Two - Attend the Professional Intensive Programme
The second phase of the International Audition Tour takes place at the Quinte Ballet School of Canada during the month of July at the Professional Intensive Programme, a four-week dance training period in which auditioning students are given an in-depth evaluation.
What to Wear to an Audition Girls should wear a dark coloured leotard, pink tights, soft ballet shoes and have their hair arranged in a bun or pinned close to the head. Students aged 13 or older with pointe experience should bring pointe shoes to the audition. Boys should wear black tights or shorts, a white t-shirt, socks and soft ballet shoes.
Where are Auditions Held?
The Quinte Ballet School of Canada will be holding auditions in locations across Canada. Please see the audition timetable for the location nearest you. Please note audition locations and times are subject to change.
How do I Register for an Audition?
All participants must pre-register for an audition. To register on-line click International Audition Tour, then click Registration Form for Audition. If you require more information, contact the School toll free at 1-866-962-9274 or via email at info@qbsc.ca. Participants must arrive thirty minutes prior to the time of the audition.
When Will I Find Out the Outcome of the Audition?
Within two weeks after the audition you will receive a letter from the School letting you know if you have been accepted into the second stage of the International Audition Tour which is the Professional Summer School Programme taking place from July 4 - July 30, 2010.
What If I Can't Attend An Audition? The School encourages students who are unable to attend an audition to submit a DVD (Canadian format) to the Ballet School or audition directly online through our new Online Audtion process.
