Quinte Ballet School of Canada Appoints New Artistic Director

Belleville, ON: The Board of Directors of the Quinte Ballet School of Canada (QBSC) are pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. John Ottmann as Artistic Director.

Mr. Ottmann began his training at the National Ballet School of Canada and L’Ecole Superieure de Danse de Quebec, and went on to perform with the National Ballet of Canada, Ballet British Columbia, Fortier Dance Creations, Holy Body Tattoo and others. His 22 year career included guest appearances with the Royal Winnipeg Ballet, Rehearsal Director for O Vertigo Creation Centre, Compagnie Marie Chouinard, Guest Teacher for The National Ballet of Canada, The Dutch National Ballet, Les Grands Ballets Canadiens, Toronto Dance Theatre, La La La Human Steps and Cirque du Soleil.

Ottmann’s teaching experience has taken him across the country to a host of training institutions that are leaders in their field.

The Quinte Ballet School welcomes Mr. Ottmann on May 1, 2009 with his full-time Artistic Directorship commencing on August 24, 2009. The Board of Directors anticipate QBSC becoming one of Canada’s premier dance training institutions under the artistic leadership of Mr. Ottmann. “We embrace Mr. Ottmann’s knowledge, experience and vision for the Quinte Ballet School of Canada’s future growth.” states Co-Chair, Judith Atkinson.
