Performances – Professional Training Program
Students of the Quinte Ballet School of Canada have a busy schedule from September to July with some opportunities to perform in a wide variety of settings. This is a very important part of our students’ education in that they go through the process of taking a dance piece from learning it in a studio, to run-throughs in our rehearsal hall, through the technical phase of putting it all together on-stage, to a full performance. Throughout this process, they learn a broad spectrum of repertoire and choreographic styles such as:
- Contemporary Dance
- Classical Ballet Repertoire
- Contemporary Ballet
- National Dance
- Hip Hop
Repertoire: Throughout QBSC’s history, the staff and students have had the honour and privilege to work with well-known choreographers and repetiteurs from home and abroad. QBSC provides the opportunity to have choreography created for the students and for them to learn how to participate in the creative process with a professional choreographer.
A highlight of the year comes when QBSC mounts its Holiday production, Holiday Dance Presents. This event takes place in Belleville at Centennial Secondary School and runs mid December.
Spring Showcase – June
Spring Showcase is always an exciting time for the students as they have the opportunity to work with both choreographers and teachers on a mixed program of various repertoire and new choreography. These popular performances showcase the professional students as the culmination of their year’s work comes to fruition.
