We invite you to join us for an exciting 2011-12 year of DANCE.  Our community-based Umbrella Dance Program (UDP) offers exceptional ballet and dance movement classes for everyone.  Regardless of age or experience, all are welcome at QBSC to experience the joy of dance and music.

2011-12 program highlights include:

• BOYsDANCE Ballet and Street Dance Classes – NEW
• Ballet Teacher Kristina McIntosh Returns to QBSC
• Kareem Byfield, Toronto Dancer/Master Teacher joins regular Faculty
• New Broadway Dance Classes take the stage
• Expanded Adult Program Dance Classes with Yoga/Pilates

Our goal is to provide people of all ages in the Quinte region and beyond the highest quality ballet instruction available while celebrating the beauty, power, creativity and discipline of arts education.  Not only does our Umbrella Dance Program provide the very best ballet instruction in the region within a state-of-the-art dance studio complex; it offers a dynamically diverse class schedule of many dance forms from Hip Hop to Tap to Flamenco and Broadway Dance.

The Umbrella Dance Program (UDP) offers a varied roster of dance classes to the Quinte area for students ages 3 to adult with a focus on offering quality instruction in a fun environment for the students. The program includes the following dance options:

• Ballet
• Pointe
• BOYsDANCE
• Contemporary
• Jazz
• Tap
• Flamenco
• Hip Hop
• Yoga/Pilates
• Zumba
• Other disciplines offered through specialized workshops

What makes this program so unique to the community is that is helmed by a dedicated group of teachers who are professionals in their field. Class teachers are artistic faculty of the Quinte Ballet School of Canada’s Professional Training Program (PTP).

The students of the UDP are fully involved in QBSC. One benefit of this is the opportunity to be involved in events and performances. Each year the Artistic Director and Principal of the UDP select students from the program to dance roles in The Nutcracker. UDP students also participate in other events, such as benefit performances throughout the community.  At the end of each year, the UDP students have a full performance where they are showcased during their Spring Festival.

Students from the UDP may also eventually go on to Audition for the PTP.
